This week was the official ground breaking for the Stone Bridge Wellness Centre, a brand new medical services building that will provide additional space for health-care providers to augment the services at the upcoming Bethesda Primary Care Centre.

The 16,500 sq-ft Stonebridge Wellness Centre is expected to have ten leasable spaces for health-related professionals like physiotherapists and chiropractors as well as medical equipment vendors, and already several of the units have been filled.

Work is set to begin soon on the estimated $3.9 million joint effort between Bethesda Wellness Inc. and Bethesda Foundation, with an expected construction completion by July 2017, to coincide with the opening of the new Bethesda Primary Care Centre. It is a tribute to the Bethesda Foundation and the many community partners involved with the centre that have come together to ensure this project grows into fruition and becomes a reality. It is also made possible by the many generous residents of our region who donate both time and money to the Foundation.

The campus setting allows people to access these different types of care, which in turn sees pressure come off of other aspects of the healthcare system. The inclusion of many different disciplines in the same centre is both forward thinking and forward planning, and will serve the community and region for many years to come.
