Constituents often tell me that they are frustrated by the fact that the justice system in Manitoba seems to be based on a revolving door model.

On June 1, 2010, our government introduced a bill in Parliament that would suspend Old Age Security (OAS) benefits for inmates in federal penitentiaries, and we are encouraging provincial and territorial institutions to do the same.

I remember how I laughed in Sunday School as a child when the teacher told the class about people in Bible times making idols with their hands and then bowing down to worship them.

The passing this past weekend of former Manitoba Premier Duff Roblin brought the man voted The Greatest Manitoban back to the front pages of newspapers and to the top of the newscycle.

Last week, as Canada’s Public Safety Minister, I was pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, the RCMP and AMBER Alert agencies across the country for the launch of the new wireless AMBER Alert program which is designed to assist in the safe return of missing children.
