Proceeds from your purchase will help provide the Bethesda Hospital with a Gamma Probe. A Gamma Probe assesses the status of the auxiliary lymph nodes (arm pit nodes) and is a critical part of managing breast cancer. Complete lymph node removal is associated with significant risks such as swollen arms, pain, fluid collection and infection. Gamma Probe technology enables lymphatic mapping and sentinel node biopsy. This means that lymph nodes would be removed only if they contain cancer cells. Purchase proceeds also help provide one of two scholarships available for someone to continue their health care education through our bursary program. Donations are welcome!
