C.T. Loewen Building Center has been successfully operating the family owned business started Mr. C.T. Loewen in 1905. In 1910, the business moved from Sandilands to Steinbach’s Main Street. C.T. Loewen divided the business into two companies in 1971. George Loewen, with his three sons, took over the lumber yard and Redicrete cement plant. Edward and Cornie Loewen moved on to expand the window and door manufacturing to become Loewen Window.

In 1990, the business moved to a bright new building with more retail space and better merchandising on Highway 12N. On December 1, 2010, the three owners, Gary, Roger and Curt Loewen sold the assets to McMunn & Yates Building Supplies Ltd.

McMunn & Yates is pleased to have this opportunity to enter the growing Steinbach market. Familiar with the Loewen family and know that they have a strong staff in place and are a leading supplier to both contractors and retail customers. The two companies have similar operating philosophies.

McMunn & Yates Building Supplies Ltd. was founded in 1971 in Dauphin, MB. The Company operates fourteen retail locations, a distribution centre in Headingly, MB and a truss manufacturing plant in Dauphin. McMunn & Yates provides a full range of lumber and building material sales to retail customers, commercial contractors and home builders.
