Safeway Championship

From February 10-14, 2010, Steinbach will play host for the second time to the Safeway Provincial Men's Curling Championship. 32 of the province’s top curling teams will take to the ice at the T.G. Smith Centre, and will battle it out to determine who will represent Manitoba at the Canadian Brier. Fundraising Pancake Breakfast

The Steinbach Legion and Steinbach Lion's Club will co-host a Pancake Breakfast during the Safeway Championship Curling event. 8th Annual Winter Carnival

On Saturday, February 13th, the City will be hosting its 8th Annual Winter Carnival. The event will take place at Steinbach's A.D. Penner Park from 10am to 3pm. Bundle up and bring your family and friends for a fantastic day of skating, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and horse-drawn sleigh rides (12-2pm)! Food vendors will also be onsite. The Winter Carnival is put on by the City of Steinbach for both Steinbach and residents of the surrounding area.

A Crude Awakening

The film "A Crude Awakening" -- a documentary regarding the dangers of the world's addiction to fossil fuels -- will be shown, and followed with a discussion about the issues it raises and how they effect our lives. Admission is FREE and is encouraged for everyone, donations will be gratefully accepted to offset the cost of the event. Faith Portraits Book Launch

Please join us for the release of Faith Portraits 1 by Gail Tiessen and Elfrieda Lepp-Kaethler. Featured Speaker Julie Bell will offer a critique/review of the manual followed by a response from the authors. MC'd by Don Russell and Bruce Peters. Tiessen was awarded the Governor General's Award for her work in the area of TESOL and has developed extensive materials that contributing to and supporting the field. Lepp-Kaethler has been published in the field of English Language Curriculum numerous times. Providence maintains a strong reputation for preparing non-native English speakers for academic study.

Film night at Mennonite Heritage Village

Premiere showing of "Pioneers of the Chaco - Canadian Mennonites Looking for Freedom in Paraguay" produced by Dr. Otto Klassen. The documentary film tells the story of the Mennonites in Canada, in 1921, who sought refuge from the rest of the world and made their their way to an unfamiliar, untamed land. Sustained by their faith in God, these people overcame huge difficulties as they forged a path into the Paraguayan wilderness. Homemade pies and coffee will be served. Admission is by donation.

SENIORS IN MOTION: CREATIVE WAY of WELLNESS and DANCE! A customized program created by Kari Martens, which incorporates dance, mobility, flexibility and more for Seniors. She will guide each participant through a series of gentle, low impact movements that can increase mobility and improve strength, stamina, posture and co-ordination – and at the same time incorporate dance steps. As SAC project is to offer creative programs to promote older health and well -being. And also enjoy some social time following each class.
