Hundreds of people came out this past Friday to Steinbach’s newest gathering place – the Community Plaza in front of the T.G. Smith Centre.

A buzz of people were in attendance to view the new Community Plaza grand opening ceremony as well as see the unveiling of Steinbach’s Community Mural – part of the Canada 150 Mosaic project, in commemoration of Canada’s 150th Birthday in 2017.

Many of the attendees participated in Community Painting Workshops that took place earlier in the week and came to see their artwork as part of the larger mural, made up of over 700 painted tiles. The mural includes a railway car, connecting it to the other communities across Canada also creating murals. Participants enjoyed hot chocolate and popcorn as part of the festivities.

The City of Steinbach would like to thank residents for their participation in the Canada 150 Mosaic project and would like to recognize the Department of Canadian Heritage for their financial contribution.
