RCMP discover vehicle upside down in ditch

On October 7, 2012, just before 5am, Selkirk RCMP Rural Detachment officers were dispatched to an unrelated call when they came across a Pontiac Grand Am flipped upside down in the ditch on Highway 4 near the intersection of Highway 9.

Police say that the passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Selkirk, was found trapped in the vehicle. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Selkirk, was not injured but showed signs of impairment.

EMS and Fire were dispatched to assist. The passenger was extricated and conveyed to hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP arrested the driver for impaired driving. He will be facing impaired related charges.
