A 66-year-old man was arrested and charged for shooting a cat with a pellet gun this past weekend in Seven Sisters Falls.

On March 9, 2013, at about 1:30pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP were dispatched to a report of a cat that had been abused and harmed in Seven Sisters Falls.

Police say that officers responded and learned that a cat was trapped, shot with a pellet gun and left on the side of the road. The cat was reportedly still alive and was taken to a local area veterinarian by a resident.

RCMP report that the cat was seriously harmed but will survive the incident and is now safely back with its owner.

On March 13, the 66-year-old male resident of Seven Sisters Falls was arrested and will face a charge under the criminal code for cruelty to animals.  He has since been release on a promise to appear with an undertaking to Beausejour Court on May 7, 2013.
