On August 3, 2014, shortly before 11:30pm, Flin Flon RCMP along with local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a motor vehicle and ATV (quad). The collision occurred at the intersection of Main Street and 3rd Avenue, in Flin Flon, Manitoba.

Initial police investigation indicates that two males operating an ATV were traveling north on Main Street when they struck a Ford Fusion traveling east on 3rd Avenue.

Police say that both the 17-year-old male, of Flin Flon, and 19-year-old male, of Thompson, were transported to hospital with serious, undetermined injuries. The 19-year-old male later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The 54-year-old female driver of the Ford Fusion, a Flin Flon resident, was treated at local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The 58-year-old passenger, also from Flin Flon, was not injured.

RCMP report that alcohol has not been ruled out as a contributing factor in this incident and that the driver and passenger of the ATV were not wearing helmets.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
