On August 21, 2014, at approximately 6pm, St-Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a report of a pig barn fire in the RM of Hanover, approximately 10 kilometres southwest of La Broquerie, Manitoba.

When police responded, the barn was engulfed in flames. Three local fire departments were on scene keeping the blaze under control.
Police say that the fire was extinguished at approximately 11pm. The 1,100 pigs inside the barn perished in the fire. No people were hurt in this incident, but the barn was completely destroyed.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the ongoing investigation. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
