Portage la Prairie woman charged with aggravated assault

On May 28, 2009 around 5:30 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault at Portage General Hospital.

Police attended PGH and spoke with the victim, a 26 year old woman of Portage la Prairie, who was in the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The victim told police that the incident occurred at a residence on the 500 block of 11th St. NW earlier in the night. Police attended the location and took a suspect into custody. The residence was secured to allow police to execute a search warrant, which was completed later in the day. 

Alicia McKinney, a 20 year old woman of Portage la Prairie, has been charged with aggravated assault and has been remanded into custody to appear in court on June 1, 2009.
