Valeant Canada celebrated the grand opening of their newly improved Steinbach facility, with hopes to spur economic growth through the creation of multi-disciplinary employment opportunities.

The Hon. Kevin Chief, Minister of Jobs and the Economy, and Mr. Charles Perez, Vice-President and General Manager of Bausch + Lomb, a division of Valeant Canada, presided over the grand opening of Valeant Canada’s newly improved facility in Steinbach, Manitoba. Also in attendance were: Chris Goertzen, Mayor of Steinbach; Kent Ledingham, President, Steinbach Chamber of Commerce; Douglas McCartney, Senior Executive Director, Science, Innovation and Business Development, and Tracey Maconachie, CEO of the Life Sciences Association of Manitoba.

Already one of the southeastern Manitoba city’s largest employers, Valeant Canada’s new facility has created 60 new and qualified jobs. The Manitoba Department of Jobs and the Economy has supported Valeant Canada’s initiative to invest in the province, providing training support funding to facilitate the transfer of the company’s natural health products line to the Steinbach facility.

“This newly improved facility once again demonstrates Valeant’s strong Canadian presence and commitment to investing in the country”, said Charles Perez, Vice President and General Manager, Bausch + Lomb Business Unit, a division of Valeant Canada.

“We are extremely proud of the expansion of this facility in Steinbach as it provides tangible benefits in terms of economic growth and job creation. This opportunity allows us to consolidate high-level jobs, and keep the expertise and know-how in Manitoba,” noted Kevin Chief, Minister of Jobs and the Economy. “Manitoba is the pharmaceutical manufacturing hub of Western Canada thanks to companies like Valeant Canada that are committed to investing and playing a key role in our communities”.

Steinbach is Valeant’s largest North American manufacturing site where the company owns and operates a sprawling state-of-the-art facility which handles manufacturing of Valeant Canada’s entire line of controlled-release products.
