On December 21, 2014, at 7:30am, Headingley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near St. Francois Xavier.

Police say that a westbound semi truck jackknifed on the highway and was then struck by another westbound semi truck

The 49-year old male driver of the first semi, from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 24-year-old male driver of the second semi, from Montreal, was uninjured.

RCMP report that alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision. Icy road conditions are considered to have played a role. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
