On April 3, 2015, at about 12am, a Treherne RCMP officer on patrol located a vehicle speeding on Highway 2 in Treherne, Manitoba.

Police say that the officer stopped the vehicle and while approaching the vehicle, the driver showed signs of having consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to the Portage la Prairie RCMP Detachment where a breath test showed his blood alcohol concentration to be higher than the legal limit.

Further investigation revealed the driver to be an RCMP officer from Saskatchewan.

RCMP report that David Collings, 43, of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, is facing numerous charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Collings was released on a Promise to Appear for court in Portage on May 11, 2015. He is currently on administrative duties.
