On July 1, 2015, at approximately 10:30am, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a collision between a semi-trailer and a cyclist on the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of MacGregor, Manitoba.

Police say that the collision occurred in the eastbound curbside driving lane. When RCMP arrived on scene, the cyclist, from Quebec, had been pronounced deceased. The 54-year-old male cyclist was traveling with another cyclist. The two were riding from Vancouver to Montreal and both were wearing helmets.

RCMP report that alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the collision and that an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
