The City of Steinbach has announced temporary parking and pedestrian access for the T.G. Smith Centre while construction is underway.

The 2015/2016 season will soon be underway at the T.G. Smith Centre in Steinbach. However, construction of a new community plaza and improvements along Elmdale Street are expected to continue until October. The City would like to inform facility users and visitors of parking and pedestrian access options while construction is underway.

Parking

  • Curling Rink/Theatre parking lot (access via Barkman Avenue and Elmdale Street)
  • Town Square Centre (after hours only)
  • Jake Epp Library
  • Steinbach Credit Union (after hours only)
  • Former Extra Foods parking lot
  • Street parking is available around the T.G. Smith Centre

Facility Entrances

Entrance to the facility is available at the main Centennial Arena doors (southwest corner of T.G. Smith Centre) and at the Curling Rink/Theatre (southeast side). A temporary pedestrian walkway is in place starting at the corner of Reimer Avenue and Elmdale Street to the Centennial Arena entrance. Visitors using the Curling Rink/Theatre entrance can proceed along the indoor corridor that connects the T.G. Smith Centre to access the arenas.

Pedestrians

Pedestrians are encouraged to use the temporary pedestrian walkway starting at the corner of Reimer Avenue and Elmdale Street that provides access via the Centennial Arena entrance. Pedestrians are otherwise encouraged to use the Curling Rink/Theatre entrance by walking from Barkman Avenue.

Loading Zone

A loading zone is available off of the Curling Rink/Theatre parking lot (located on the southeast side). Users can use the Curling Rink/Theatre doors and proceed down the indoor corridor that connects to the T.G. Smith Centre arenas.
