On July 19, 2016, at approximately 2pm, Stonewall RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 6. The collision occurred near Road 86N in the RM of Woodlands.

Initial police investigation has revealed that a northbound car crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a pickup truck. Both vehicles caught fire after the impact.

Police say that the lone occupant and driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck, who was pulled to safety by passers-by, was airlifted by STARS with non life threatening injuries.

A collision analyst is assisting the ongoing investigation in order to establish the contributing factors to this collision.
