Child drowns in Landmark

A two-year-old Winnipeg boy has drowned in a backyard pool during a family gathering at a residence in Landmark.

The child, who had been playing with others in the yard, was noticed to be absent and a search by family members located him face down in the nearby above ground pool. RCMP report that the pool is accessed by a ladder system.

Efforts to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the Ste. Anne hospital.

The investigation continues and the death is deemed accidental.
