RCMP locate missing hiker
On September 3, 2010, Falcon Beach RCMP were notified of a missing 86-year-old hiker near Hadashville, Manitoba.
Immediate efforts were made to locate Joseph Kuz, who resides in Winnipeg.
When Kuz could not be located, a massive search process was put into place. RCMP Search and rescue personnel, Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner, Department of Natural Resources, local firefighters and volunteers began searching the last known location.
Today, September 6, 2010, at about 9:30am RCMP searchers on all-terrain vehicles located Mr. Kuz in a heavily wooded swamp within the search area.
Mr. Kuz is reported to be dehydrated and tired, but otherwise in good health. He has been transported by ambulance to hospital for treatment and observation.
