On Parliament Hill

Happy Easter

On Sunday, Christians from around the world will gather to celebrate the focal point of the Christian faith: the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Following the crucifixion, the Bible teaches that Jesus rose from the dead, making new life possible for all who believe.

Here in Provencher, Easter celebrations will, sadly, look a little bit different again this year. In compliance with Provincial restrictions, churches will need to continue to find creative solutions to facilitate public worship.

For many, not being able to meet together to worship or see family this weekend will be a source of great sorrow.

For others, dealing with the death of, or separation from, a loved one, these family-oriented holiday times are especially difficult. As a parent and grandparent, I share that sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving and longing to see their loved ones.

In times like these, we all need to hear some good news, and the resurrection is the source of joy and hope for millions of people around the globe.

It is my prayer and my hope, during this Easter season, that the story of Jesus and his message of love, forgiveness, peace, and hope will be a source of comfort and encouragement to all who read it.

After winter comes spring. After darkness, light. After sorrow, joy. And after death comes new life.

From my family to yours, best wishes for a blessed Easter.
