Trudeau Found Guilty of Breaking Ethics Laws – Again

Justin Trudeau has been found guilty of breaking ethics laws, again.

As I mentioned in my post last week, Justin Trudeau was previously found guilty of breaking conflict of interest laws in 2016.

Last week, the Ethics Commissioner ruled that Justin Trudeau had once again violated conflict-of-interest laws when he pressured his former Attorney General to illegally intervene in the ongoing criminal prosecution of SNC Lavalin.

The Ethics Commissioner’s report into the SNC-Lavalin scandal revealed that what took place between Justin Trudeau, SNC-Lavalin and the former Attorney General was far worse than anyone originally thought. Justin Trudeau was in it from the very beginning and it was Trudeau himself who waged a sustained campaign of misinformation, deceit, and manipulation to cover up the truth from Canadians.

When confronted with the facts, Justin Trudeau claimed to take responsibility, but then continued to try to justify his actions, going so far as to state that he disagreed with the Ethic’s Commissioner’s conclusions. That sure doesn’t sound like taking responsibility. That sounds like just another example of this Prime Minister believing he is above the law.

Conservative Leader, Andrew Scheer summed it up well:

“What we have now is a clear picture of who Justin Trudeau truly is… Let’s remember on the day this story first broke Justin Trudeau denied it completely. He said that the story was false. He said he never pressured Jody Wilson-Raybould. We know now that is false. He said she never came to him with her concerns. Again, we know now that was false. And he said that he would be happy to work and cooperate with the Ethics Commissioner. And now we know that is false as well. Instead, we now know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Justin Trudeau is not as advertised. He has stated so many falsehoods that no one can believe anything he says.”

On Monday, Andrew Scheer renewed his call for an RCMP investigation.

A Prime Minister who so flagrantly deceives and breaks the law cannot be entrusted with the duties and responsibilities of that office.

This week, the House of Commons Ethics Committee is meeting to discuss these new revelations. It will be up to the Liberal majority on this committee to decide whether a further investigation will take place. I urge these six Liberal Members of Parliament to put their country before their party and vote to let the Ethics Committee do its work. That said, Justin Trudeau has shut down and interfered in such investigations before.

It has yet to be seen whether Justin Trudeau will ever face a court of law for his role in this scandal, but he will have to face the Canadian people this fall.

On the eve of this election, the choice Canadians face has never been more clear. A choice between a Prime Minister who abuses his power, bends the law for his friends, and blatantly misrepresents the facts, or a Conservative government, led by a Prime Minister who will uphold the rule of law, respect our democratic institutions, and work hard every day to help all Canadians get ahead.
