Location: Winnipeg and/or Steinbach (minimum 3 days per week in Steinbach)
Hours of Work: Full Time, Monday – Friday
Job Purpose:
As the Compliance Advisor you will work closely with the Manager, Compliance to ensure all areas of SCU Compliance Programs are met. You will be the resident Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) legislation, in order to advise and provide recommendation to front-line staff and leaders on legislative requirements and trains on compliance related legislation.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Approve new memberships that require approval or additional research pertaining to Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC), or other legislation, High risk, Cannabis and Beneficial Ownership
- Review Suspicious Transactions Report (STRs) prior to queue
- Maintenance of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Risk Based manuals (keep current, and relevant, review annually and update with new legislation changes)
- Oversee the Compliance training program including: creating material, schedule, plan and facilitate training sessions to front-line staff
- Create and maintain training materials for the Compliance department
- Liaise with front-line staff and management for information sharing
- Respond to inquiries from staff, the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC) and/or law enforcement agencies to resolve questions and concerns
- Create logical and innovative solutions to business issues and/or new opportunities
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma plus two years formal business-related education or equivalent, plus 2 to 4 years of CU financial services industry related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- AML Designation would be considered an asset
- Business acumen
- Advanced knowledge of deposit compliance policies, procedures and practices
- Advanced understanding of credit union operations
- AML/Fraud Software proficiency
- Advanced knowledge of AML/CTF legislation and fraud trends in the financial sector
- Experience interpreting FINTRAC legislation as it relates to financial institutions
- Travel between Winnipeg and Steinbach is required
