She will be deeply missed by her son, Glen (Crystal) Friesen and their children: Cade, Lexie and Zara; and her daughter, Wendy (Darcy) Ens and their children: Brianna, Luke, Jack and Kaitie. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Agatha Enns, Nitha Friesen, Kathy Giesbrecht and Sally Harder and brother-in-law Jake Bergen.

Nettie was predeceased by her husband Peter and by her siblings and their spouses: Cornelius, Helen, Elizabeth (Betty), Jac, George, and John, siblings-in-law Kay, Tena and Kathy.

Nettie was born on March 7, 1935, in Cabri, Saskatchewan and lived there until she was 10 years of age. In 1945, she and her family moved to Steinbach, Manitoba. As a young adult, she enjoyed attending church and getting involved in youth and singing in the choir. After attending one year of Bible school at Elim Bible Institute in Altona, Manitoba, she worked as a nurses aide at Bethesda Mental Hospital in Vineland, Ontario. Later she worked at Derksen Printers in Steinbach, Manitoba.

In 1971, she married Peter Friesen, a farmer from Arnaud, Manitoba. In her new home, Nettie enjoyed working in her large garden and tending to her many flowers. She also quickly became involved in the Arnaud Mennonite Church, singing in the choir and volunteering her time serving on many church committees. Peter and Nettie enjoyed working together on the farm and raising their family in Arnaud until they retired to Winnipeg in the summer of 1993. Upon retirement, Nettie and Peter moved to Winnipeg where they attended Bethel Mennonite Church. Nettie quickly became involved in her new church home where she made many new friends. Five years ago, Nettie and Peter moved to Bethel Place and have enjoyed the company of many old and new friends that also live in this building.
