New Responsibilities

  • Kelvin Goertzen, Author
  • Member of the Legislative Assembly, Steinbach

With Progressive Conservative Leader, Brian Pallister, officially assuming his new duties late last month, there were also new roles and responsibilities being assigned within the P.C. Party and in the P.C. Caucus at the Legislature.

Mr. Pallister has asked me to serve as the House Leader for the Progressive Conservative Caucus. The role of the House Leader requires being involved in negotiations with the other political parties on most matters that involve the operation of the House and how legislation is handled in the Manitoba Legislature. It is a job that will keep me involved in most day to day aspects of the Legislature and one that I am familiar with having served as House Leader previously from about 2006-2009.

However, while this is an additional responsibility for me at the Legislature, it doesn’t change at all my main responsibility which is to the people of the Steinbach Constituency. Being the MLA for the Steinbach Constituency remains my primary responsibility and is the role that I appreciate the most and am most dedicated to. I look forward to continuing to work with local residents to ensure their views are vigorously represented in the Manitoba Legislature.
