On January 8, 2017, just after 8:30pm, Neepawa RCMP responded to a pickup truck and train collision at the Boughton Street tracks in Arden, Manitoba.

Initial police investigation has determined that the driver of an eastbound pickup truck was traveling at a low rate of speed when he approached an uncontrolled railway crossing. The driver attempted to stop, but was struck by a northbound train. Police noted that road conditions were icy at the time of the collision.

RCMP report that a 68-year-old Arden man, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on scene. Police do not consider alcohol a factor in this incident.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
