Laurent Tetrault, Progressive Conservative candidate in Dawson Trail, will be hosting an informational meeting on the issue of Bipole III on Friday September 23rd in Lorette.

“The Bipole III issue has really exploded over the last week in Dawson Trail as people become more aware of the issue,” said Tetrault. “Every day I’m hearing from families who are concerned about the massive hydro lines that will be built in their communities.”

Bipole III is a controversial proposed power line that will bring electricity to Southern Manitoba from Northern Manitoba’s generating stations. The NDP have chosen to run the 150 ft tall hydro towers and lines past several communities in Dawson Trail including Ste. Anne, Landmark, Lorette and Ile des Chenes. This will not only extend the high voltage power line by over 500 kilometres as compared to the shorter route preferred by the PC Party, it will also waste billions of taxpayers’ dollars.

“Our plan would save taxpayers over $1Billion and would see the line built down the east side of Lake Winnipeg, avoiding highly populated areas,” added Tetrault. “Given the huge impact these massive high voltage power lines will have on the riding of Dawson Trail, I think it’s important that all the facts are laid out for local residents, and I encourage everyone to attend the informational meeting.”

The Bipole III meeting will be held on Friday September 23 at the Lorette Golf Course, 150 Fairway Drive in Lorette. The meeting begins at 7:30 pm.
