Residents of Southeast Manitoba are now able to write a personal Diamond Jubilee message of congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II.

A display, including the Diamond Jubilee Celebration book, has been circulating among communities in Manitoba since the beginning of February, and now it will be on display in Steinbach City Hall, 225 Reimer Avenue, till June 12th.

The display was officially unveiled at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Steinbach City Hall in a special ceremony involving Kelvin Goertzen, Member of the Legislative Assembly, and Mayor of Steinbach, Chris Goertzen.

“Residents of Steinbach and the Steinbach region have a unique opportunity to connect and commemorate with Canada’s Queen and the 60 years of service and stability she has provided for us as citizens,” said Mayor Chris Goertzen. “I encourage both longtime residents of Steinbach and our new citizens to take a few minutes to celebrate this milestone by signing the Celebration book at Steinbach City Hall during the month of June.”

“This is a great opportunity for residents of the southeast to join with Canadians across the country in sending congratulations and celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II,” said Steinbach MLA Kelvin Goertzen.

Mayor Goertzen and Mr. Goertzen also participated in a commemorative planting of an Amber Jubilee Ninebark shrub in front of City Hall to mark the occasion.

Congratulatory messages can also be sent online through the Government of Canada website.
