Thompson RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run collision involving a cyclist.

On Monday July 16, 2012, just before 2am, Thompson RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to a call of a man who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The man was reported to have been lying on Highway 391, just south of the entrance to the Thompson Golf Course.

Thompson RCMP and Thompson Fire and Ambulance members attended the scene where they located a 19-year-old male. The man was transported to hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

RCMP investigation has determined that the man was cycling and had been struck by a vehicle, possibly white in colour. The victim was described as wearing dark coloured clothing.

An RCMP Traffic Services Collision Analyst has been called in to examine the scene and the investigation remains on-going at this time.

Thompson RCMP have identified a vehicle of interest in relation to the death of the 19-year-old man. RCMP Forensic Identification Officers and the Traffic Services Collision Analyst are conducting an examination of the vehicle. The investigation remains on-going, and RCMP continue to request the assistance of anyone who may have witnesses this collision.
