Walkers, runners, cyclists, and rollerblading enthusiasts will be happy to note that there is another paved active route in Steinbach.

The City reports that the newly paved pathway through L.A. Barkman Park and the Steinbach Soccer Park, all the way to PTH 52 West, was completed on July 24.

“Walking and cycling paths are an important part of keeping our city active and healthy,” said Mayor Chris Goertzen. “Council has made a strong commitment over the past number of years to steadily improve and extend the active transportation pathways throughout our city. This year we are pleased to see the connection of L.A. Barkman Kinsmen Park and the Steinbach Soccer Park which enables further interconnection of neighbourhoods and green spaces.”

Also new in Steinbach’s active transportation, a second edition of the City’s Share the Road brochure, showing Steinbach’s active walk/cycle routes, has recently become available. You can download a copy of the brochure online at steinbach.ca or pick up a paper copy at the following locations: City Hall, Steinbach Aquatic Centre, Harvest Insurance, King Insurance, BSI Insurance, Southeast Insurance, Body Driven Sports, Source for Sports, Canadian Tire, or the Mennonite Heritage Village.

More information on the City of Steinbach’s Share the Road Program is available on the City’s website.
