Announcing his candidacy for City Councillor, Ryan Derksen believes a strong city like Steinbach would benefit from a balanced perspective to promote a sustainable environment for families, businesses and recreation. This also includes partnering with all levels of government and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Derksen states, “Whether a project is large or small, it needs to be assessed in terms of sustainability.”

Ryan’s experiences come from an extensive managerial tenure, committed volunteerism and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba. “I believe that being a student, specifically in a Post-Secondary setting, means you are more than a student of just one field – your studies expand to include what drives a community and promotes well-being for its residents.”

An emphasis on volunteering came primarily through his Church where he is currently involved with music and leadership. This extends also into the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg where he served in the children’s Hospital. “A community is built on a culture of care just as much as work ethic.” Ryan said.

Ryan Derksen currently resides in Steinbach with his wife and local artist, Ariana Tennyson. Ryan is available to contact by phone at 204-355-8150 or by email at ryanderksen@gmail.com.
