On October 18, 2014, at approximately 6:15pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of a fire at the Grace Mennonite Church on Third Street in Steinbach, MB.

Investigation has deemed the fire to be an arson and the fire has caused approximately $15,000 in damage to the church. Police say that the fire was set to items placed on the roof of the church.

Steinbach RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying 4 male youths, approximately 12-15 years old. Two of the youth were riding BMX style bicycles. One of the bikes is described as blue with no stickers and has black rims. The second bike is described as a white BMX style with black rims. One of the male suspects is believed to have been wearing a red sweater, beige pants and a toque with a pom pom on it.  Another male youth suspect is believed to have been wearing a blue hoodie, dark shorts and had orange shoe laces.

Update

With the assistance of the community, Steinbach RCMP identified four male youths responsible for the fire. The youths were taken into custody and charged for arson regarding this incident and mischief in relation to other incidents occurring in Steinbach over the past few months. All youths were released on conditions for court in Steinbach at a later date. Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate this matter.
