Gimli RCMP are asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a recent sexual assault incident.

On September 17, 2014, around 11pm, a 42-year-old woman was driving southbound on Highway 8 from Gimli, when she got a flat tire just north of Highway 229. A male motorist, driving what appeared to be a grey or silver SUV, stopped to offer to her a ride to Winnipeg Beach so she could get help. Once inside the vehicle, the woman was driven to a secluded area where the suspect pulled the vehicle over and sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect then left the victim on the road.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with fair skin and a solid build. He was between 40-50 years old, approximately 6’1″ tall and weighed about 260 pounds. He had rusty-coloured hair with freckles across the bridge of his nose and under his eyes. His eyes were a light colour and he did not wear glasses. The suspect was wearing navy or black sweatpants and a darker t-shirt.

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the Gimli RCMP at 204-642-5106 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477. You can also submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text TIPMAN plus your message to CRIMES(274637).
