Manitoba RCMP employees have wrapped, packed and handed out toys to children throughout the province as part of the RCMP’s Toys for the North project. The communities that received toys this year are Bloodvein, Poplar River, Berens River, Little Grand Rapids, Portage la Prairie, Shoal Lake, Dauphin, Swan River, Lac Brochet, Brochet and Tadoule Lake.

Toys get delivered

In the North District, the RCMP were assisted by MKO and Awassis in distributing toys to the children. Inclement weather caused some delays in getting the toys to the isolated northern communities chosen to receive toys this year, but that has not stopped the RCMP and volunteers from making sure the toys will be in the hands of the children for Christmas.

Making the toy packages even more special is Thompson resident Delphine Bodnarchuk. Bodnarchuk knit hundreds of scarves, toques and mitts, which were delivered along with the toys to some very excited boys and girls in the isolated northern communities.

The RCMP would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
