Tuesday was the by-election in Fort Whyte and it was a strong victory for Progressive Conservative Leader Brian Pallister. The new leader of the P.C. Party was seeking a seat in the Legislature and now will be representing the south Winnipeg riding of Fort Whyte. The margin of victory was significant with the NDP Party coming in third place. It was especially gratifying to see the support for Mr. Pallister considering that the election campaign occurred mostly during August when many people in the area were away and not closely following the campaign.
With the by-election done, it is now up to NDP Premier Greg Selinger to determine when the Legislature will be recalled to resume sitting.
