Manitobans know full well the challenge of driving on many of our crumbling roads. But a new perspective was added this week when Manitoba paramedics brought to light the fact that many of their members are saying that the roads are so bad that it is hard to perform life saving procedures in an ambulance at times.
Eric Glass, the administrative director of the Paramedic Association of Manitoba, said that paramedics are often forced to find alternative routes to avoid pothole filled roads which can prevent patients from being properly cared for when transported.
Despite promises to the contrary, many of the problems with Manitoba roads are the result of the NDP government promising to dedicate taxes to road repair and then purposely not using all of those funds to actually fix roads. It’s bad enough that Manitobans have to suffer the poorly maintained roads, but it’s even worse when they pose a medical safety concern.
