The Southeastern Manitoba Festival has grown to be one of the cultural jewels of the southeast and Manitoba. The festival, which began in February and concluded with the Gala Night of festival winners this past week, showcases the amazing talent that calls our region home.
A wide variety of talents are displayed. From piano to voice to dance to speech arts the diversity of the performances reflect the diversity of our region and its talents. With literally thousands of people participating in the various categories, the festival requires an incredibly dedicated group of volunteers, coaches and sponsors.
The end result is the opportunity for amateur performers to improve their talents, build confidence and vie for the chance to compete at higher levels. Those who dedicate so many hours to making the festival happen are not only benefiting the lives of the performers, they better our community and our province.
I was pleased to again present a trophy this year and to hear performances from those who won in their individual categories. My wife Kim and I are amazed every year by the incredible array of talent we have in our community and region. Thank you to the performers and organizers of this year’s Southeastern Manitoba Festival. It was another great success.
