This weekend kicked off the 47th Annual Folklorama, the largest and longest-running multicultural festival of its kind in the world. For the next two weeks some 20,000 volunteers will ensure that over 40 pavilions across our province’s capital will feature the culture and history of countries from around the world. Manitoba’s ethnic diversity and history is often talked about, but at Folklorama, you truly can see the cultural quilt of our province.
From July 31st to August 13th the pavilions will showcase lively entertainment, cultural displays, and warm hospitality. Music, language and friendly ambassadors dressed in their cultural attire will greet you at every pavilion, while you wait to experience world class performances from dance troupes and musician groups from across the globe. If you are a ‘foodie’ at heart, you will love the incredible, authentic and culturally diverse dishes prepared fresh at each pavilion. Folklorama will not only entertain and inspire Manitobans, it also attracts visitors from across North America. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy Folklorama this year.
