As the Minister of Health, Seniors and Active Living I am very excited and honoured to proclaim October of this year Seniors’ and Elders’ Month in Manitoba. During Seniors’ and Elders’ Month, communities across our province will be holding activities that highlight and recognize the concerns and contributions of older Manitobans, as well as to promote health and wellbeing, and to celebrate Age-Friendly initiatives.

In our province, seniors and elders are valued for their continued leadership and experience to our families, as well as bringing diverse and varying accomplishments, values, backgrounds and interests to our communities. Every one of us knows a senior who has given back to their community, someone who is a vital role model and whose knowledge continues to help shape younger generations. These individuals enrich all our lives by sharing their stories, wisdom and skills through their volunteering and caregiving.

Thank you very much to all of the sponsors, community planning committees and volunteers who will be organizing Seniors’ and Elders’ Month activities. I encourage you to celebrate the energy, vitality and strength of seniors in Manitoba throughout October.
