Tour of Niverville Health Care Clinic

Recently I had the opportunity to tour the Niverville Health Care Clinic alongside a group including my colleague Shannon Martin, MLA for Morris, Southern Health CEO Kathy McPhail and Board Chair Abe Bergen.

The 5,000 square foot clinic is roughly 70% complete and built in partnership between Heritage Holdings, the town of Niverville, Niverville Medical Clinic and Southern Health. It will provide assistance in everything from mental health to chronic care, using doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Niverville has constantly shown initiative with their ability to partner with other communities, to creatively work towards the goal of building lasting services. Named “Open Health” the clinic is has a target opening date of June or July, and will provide regular hours, eventually growing into a seven-day format. Sustainability in Manitoba’s health-care system has been one of our government’s top priorities and with the current fiscal environment, the NHCC stands as a model for other communities.
