Have You Ever Felt Like a Modern Day Job?

I have, and let me tell you it sucks. You wait for the other “shoe” to drop, and you look around and there are quite a few “shoes” lying around. Then the next thing you notice, is these shoes don’t have matches, so you know there are going to be other “shoes” dropping. Or at least that’s how you feel…

I am not going to give you a “woe is me” story, even though I could, cause somehow life keeps getting in my way, and the list of “stuff” going on seems to continue to build. What I am going to do, however is encourage you. Yep, stuff happens. Nope it isn’t fair. But you are not alone.

Yesterday I sent a prayer request to an online bible study I am doing. I listed a few of the things going on, and someone sent me the YouTube link for the song “Oh my Soul” by Casting Crowns. I had heard the song before on the radio, however this video had the lyrics in it. So I listened, and I became aware that there are references to scripture in the song that has been very important to me in the past. (I listed them in the lyrics below). And as someone said to me recently, if you are going through something it is not where you are coming from that the devil is worried about, it is where you are going. He is scared of what you are going to be able to do once you are done therefore he is attaching you before you get there and become an amazing witness for the Kingdom.

Below is the lyrics, I hope you enjoy them, and are encouraged. In the end Job was blessed by God for his faithfulness.

Oh my soul
Oh, how you worry
Oh, how you’re weary, from fearing you lost control
This was the one thing, you didn’t see coming
And no one would blame you, though
If you cried in private
If you tried to hide it away, so no one knows
No one will see, if you stop believing

Oh, my soul
You are not alone
There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know
One more day, He will make a way
Let Him show you how, you can lay this down
‘Cause you’re not alone

Here and now
You can be honest
I won’t try to promise that someday it all works out
‘Cause this is the valley (Psalms 23:4)
And even now, He is breathing on your dry bones (Ezekiel 37)
And there will be dancing (psalms 30:11)
There will be beauty where beauty was ash and stone (Isaiah 61:3)
This much I know

Oh, my soul
You are not alone
There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know
One more day, He will make a way
Let Him show you how, you can lay this down

I’m not strong enough, I can’t take anymore
(You can lay it down, you can lay it down)
And my shipwrecked faith will never get me to shore
(You can lay it down, you can lay it down)
Can He find me here
Can He keep me from going under
