I am very pleased to announce that the province will be providing more than $2.6 million in grants to projects for non-profit and community-led organizations, community-driven neighbourhood revitalization.

In our constituency of Steinbach, over $70,343.00 will be going into the following local projects:

  • Bothwell Recreation Association (50 Park Bay, New Bothwell, Greenspace development – Total: $34,780.00)
  • City of Steinbach (Third Street, Steinbach, Choate Park Playground – Total: $10,557.00), Friedensfeld Community Centre (#32004 Road 35E, Stienbach, Replacement Kitchen Floor – Total: $7,971)
  • Mennonite Heritage Village (231 PTH 12 North, Steinbach, Lighting Upgrades – Total: $18,035).

The Manitoba government has committed more than $20 million in 2017-18 through existing commitments and the recent single-window intake to support community development. The Community Places program provides funding and planning assistance to build, upgrade, expand or acquire facilities focused on culture, recreation and wellness. Successful grant applicants must also contribute to project costs, often through local fundraising efforts, grants from other sources, or donated labour and materials.

More information on the programs above and a list of all funded projects can be found at gov.mb.ca.
