Washing Machine Woes

So, a little over a week ago, about my washing machine DIED. It would fill up with water, and then do nothing. I hadn’t a hot clue what was wrong with it, so I was looking at finding a new machine. I had a friend who offered to purchase one for me and that I could pay her when I could.

Well, I did pick out one and really liked. It was high efficiency set and it was $1,000 for the set. However, I had a “check” in my spirit that said wait. So, I did. To call a repair shop was $75 just to walk into my home, and $(holy crap) per hour to fix what ever was wrong on top of the part.

Later that week, I met a friend of mine for coffee and she had suggested that maybe it was just a breaker on the electrical panel. She had been praying about it, and God told her that I was to check the breaker. She wanted to ignore that idea (it seemed to simple), however, she couldn’t get that thought out of her mind. When I got home from our coffee “date”, I dutifully checked the breakers. God had said wait, and so I needed to investigate whatever I could.

Nope, it was not a breaker, HOWEVER upon further inspection of my machine and googling “my washer fills up with water and dies” I found out that my Lid Switch was broken. In fact, when I was checking that part, it came out of the machine and into my hand (who knew). Turns out that google also shows you how to take apart a washing machine so you can change the lid switch.

So off I went to my local appliance repair shop, got the broken part, and $70 later and my machine works great! The company I got the lid switch from said my machine could work easily for another 5 years with the new switch. Thank you, God for your amazing favor and friends who don’t get up listing to you.

Why do I tell you this as I’m standing on my soap box? Because it is a reminder, that God cares about all things in our lives. And while a little switch, that ended up costing me $73, and an hour of my time, is certainly part of what God cares about. And while I certainly appreciate my friends offer of help, I also knew that I needed to be obedient and not spend money I didn’t have.

What else does God care about?

Every.

Little.

Thing.

He hears us. He loves us. He is better than our earthly fathers (and I have to tell you, mine is pretty fantastic). Let God speak to you (He does) Listen for his still small voice and let him love on you. My washing machine is something that while simple, is proof that he takes care of things for us. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills.
