World Teachers’ Day and Excellence in Education Awards

  • Kelvin Goertzen, Author
  • Member of the Legislative Assembly, Steinbach

I recently invited Manitobans to nominate an educator for the Manitoba Excellence in Education Award. I proclaimed Friday, October 5th World Teachers’ Day, which is a great opportunity to recognize the teachers and educators in our lives that contribute so much. They are critically important to the development of our young people, and we should all be thankful that quality education is so important to our society here in Canada.

The Manitoba Excellence in Education Awards recognize nominated teachers for their outstanding work, honouring new and experienced teachers along with collaboration and leadership skills that create a better learning environment for all. I encourage parents, students, and fellow teachers to nominate individuals for these awards. The deadline is November 30th, 2018 and more information can be found online.

The award recipients are chosen by a panel representing a number of educational partners in Manitoba, and recipients receive a $500 award and a certificate presented at the Legislature in spring 2019. This award is a great opportunity to recognize the hard work that educators in our province contribute to the success of the next generation.
