Apprenticeship Awards of Distinction

  • Kelvin Goertzen, Author
  • Member of the Legislative Assembly, Steinbach

I was pleased to present two awards at the 12th annual Apprenticeship Awards of Distinction, where a number of exceptional employers, tradespeople, and instructors were honoured for their work with apprentices in Manitoba. I was proud to join everyone in attendance to recognize the contributions of all who were nominated, and congratulations to all of the award winners.

I would like to recognize Forman Honda (Rural Employer of the Year), PCL Construction (Urban Employer of the Year), Bison Transport (Internationally Experienced Tradespersons), Riley Chumola (Rural Journeyperson of the Year), Carl Gleich (Urban Journeyperson of the Year), and Gary van der Zweep, Red River College (Instructor of the Year). These award winners, along with all of those nominated at the event, have made significant contributions to the apprenticeship program in Manitoba.

A strong apprenticeship system in Manitoba ensures that tradespeople have a strong, adaptable path towards trade certification.
