View From the Legislature

There are a number of workers who are on standby at any given moment ready to assist when needed. This is particularly true in the deep cold of winter. Two of these groups of workers are highways employees well as Manitoba Hydro workers.

Keeping our roads and highways clear of snow and ice during the winter is difficult. Manitoba storms are legendary and the will of Manitobans to keep moving even during these times is as well. We rely on our highways workers to get our roads open and keep them safe.

Hydro outages, particularly during the winter, are not just inconvenient, they can be deadly. There have been a number of outages this winter that have required workers to be out in dark and cold conditions getting power service restored.

To our highways workers and to Manitoba Hydro staff, thank you for being there when called upon. To all of our emergency personnel, we are fortunate to be able to rely on your dedication. Thank you!
