Our government strongly supports the work of paramedics. They are an important part of the medical system and ensuring that quick access to medical care happens around the province. Medical support begins not when a patient arrives at a hospital, but when a paramedic arrives on scene of a call.

In addition to moving paramedicine to a self-regulated profession, we are increasing the number of paramedics throughout Manitoba with a commitment to fund 60 new positions. We also continue to decrease the cost of an ambulance call for Manitobans.

Last week our government also announced that it would be purchasing 65 new ambulances to help update the fleet of ambulances. These announcements are part of ensuring that rural Manitobans get the professional service of paramedics quickly when they need it most.
