It’s Your Credit Rating Too

While most of us know the impact of what our personal credit rating has on our ability to borrow, we don’t always pay as much attention to the credit rating of our government. And yet, that also has a direct impact on us as a poor government credit rating means the cost to taxpayers is higher.

Earlier this month, S&P Global Ratings improved Manitoba’s credit rating noting that the provincial government has made good on its promise to reduce the deficit and is on track to balance ahead of schedule. Three credit rating downgrades followed the record deficits of the NDP government but Manitoba is now turning the financial corner.

While there is still much work that needs to be done, it is important to know that the efforts of every Manitoban to help get our provinces finances back on track is working.
