Even though the last vestiges of summer have left us, and autumn colours and cooler weather are inviting us to prepare for winter, Mennonite Heritage Village continues to offer activities and programs for everyone.
Here are a few highlights:
Exhibit Explorers: Craft & Story Hour (October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)
Exhibit Explorers is MHV’s free weekly craft & story hour for parents and their children! At 10 am on Thursday mornings, join MHV staff in the indoor gallery for storytime, movement games, and a craft that accompanies the stories that were read. This storytime is for any parent with their children who are looking for a place to go for storytime or who are looking for a fun, free outing. No registration is required and we look forward to having many parents and kids dropping by.
Perogy Making Workshop (October 24)
Join MHV and Country Perogy Shop for a Perogy Making Workshop that’ll walk you through the whole perogy making process. Plus, you’ll go home with 2 dozen of your own hand-made perogies! Registration is $60 and spots are limited. Sign up at www.mhv.ca to secure your spot now.
Winter Field Trips (Booking now for November to April)
Step back in time and experience living history this winter with MHV’s winter school programs! Without the luxuries of a furnace, running water, or a local Walmart, experience the hard-work of “Getting Ready for Winter.” In a life before TV’s, phones, and Netflix, what did children do during winter? Spend some time engaging in classic “Pioneer Winter Play.” Plus, during November and December only, jump back in time and experience “A Pioneer Christmas!” Head to mhv.ca or call 204-326-9661 to learn more and book your field trip today.
