The end of June has always been a time of milestones and new beginnings, when the school year comes to a close and students get ready for their summer break. For many, it is the last week of high school before their graduation and the celebration of all their hard work in the classroom, where all their accomplishments are recognized.
To the 2016 Steinbach graduates, I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your high school graduation. This is a very significant achievement in your life and one that will open many doors of opportunity for you, whether it is in post secondary education, trade schools, or in the workplace if you choose. Please know that your family, friends, teachers and community are very proud of you. As well, for those who have graduated post-secondary education, from a University or a College, your degree or diploma recognizes the additional skills that you have obtained. I hope that you are able to apply those skills in a way that brings you satisfaction.
Many parents will have attended the various graduations and will have felt both pride in the accomplishment of their children and wonderment of where the time has gone. Many will have vivid memories of the day they first brought their son or daughter to school. Your support, as parents, is an important part of the success of our graduates.
I wish all graduates well in your future endeavors, whether they be in the world of work, furthering your education or family life. It is my hope that you will continue to build on the foundation that you have successfully established in your years of education. Congratulations on this important accomplishment and best wishes for a successful and rewarding future.
