The Manitoba Legislature will return to session on Tuesday October 20th, the day following the federal election. It will be in session into December and then again in February leading up to the provincial election which will take place in April 2016.
In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week last week, many fire departments across Manitoba held open houses. There were several throughout the southeast as well.

The Manitoba NDP government has launched pre-budget consultations in advance of next year’s budget. This is an annual exercise where the government asks Manitobans what they want to see in the budget.

A dinner was held this past week at the Steinbach Legion to honour our veterans and to remember this year as the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands from Nazi occupation during the Second World War and Canada’s significant role in that effort.
Last week Manitoba joined with other provinces to mark National Trucking Week. Local events were held which showed appreciation for the many professional drivers that we have in our region and for the firms that employ them.
Wednesday marked a historic milestone as Queen Elizabeth became the longest-reigning monarch in Canada’s modern era, surpassing her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
